National Championships 2025
This year we are again blessed to count on the support of our title sponsor for the
Carr & Day & Martin National Championship Side Saddle League, with the supreme champion (highest scoring rider out of the Lady OR Intermediate Category winning €1,000 while the top 4 Ladies, Intermediates and Juniors will also win gorgeous Carr & Day & Martin products and merchandise.
Within this Championship we also have awards for the following Categories:
🎩 The Carr Day Martin Best Turned Out League (those who win the most BTO Rosettes will be awarded a beautiful sash at the end of season
🎩 A Best Rider League (the lady or intermediate with the most Best Rider Rosettes wins an Equestrian Portable Showers Ireland Horse shower!
🎩 The Traditional Irish Horse Association National Side Saddle Championship sponsored by Agria Equine Ireland for the highest scoring TIH
🎩 The Registered Irish Draught National Side Saddle Championship sponsored by Emma at Farmhill Agri Services
🎩 The Thoroughbred National Side Saddle Championship sponsored by Poolcourt Engineering
🎩 The Irish Sport Horse National Side Saddle Championship sponsored by Kinard Stables Ciara Dennigan
🎩 The Connemara Pony National Side Saddle Championship (awaiting confirmation of sponsor)
🎩 The Junior National Side Saddle Championship (awaiting confirmation of sponsor)
In most cases the Champion will be awarded with a perpetual silver plate or trophy, a sash, prize money/vouchers, the Reserve will be awarded with a sash and prize money or vouchers, the remaining entrants in the category will be awarded a beautiful rosette.
In order to win a breed championship you simply register your participation in our league by inputting your membership number, horse/pony details from their passport and then score the highest amount of points in your category over the course of the league. Registration is open at itsplainsailing.com/org/ssi
Our league is open to ALL horses of every breed and none, these sub categories are simply extra recognition of the highest scoring horses in their respective categories. It is never too late to join and start gaining your points, an updated list of shows has been published on our website as per 12/06/2025

You need to be a member of Side Saddle Ireland to participate in the league and you must register your participation in advance (free of charge) on itsplainsailing.com/org/ssi to enable to committee to keep track of results and points after every affiliated show. This is quick and easy- you just need your horse passport and membership number! For show secretaries who wish to affiliate and turn their side saddle class(es) into qualifiers for the championship, please feel free to contact us sidesaddleireland@gmail.com for further info!
There is a Best Turned Out Rosette sponsored by CDM and Best Rider Rosette sponsored by Equestrian Portable Showers Ireland awarded at every affiliated class with lovely prizes at the end of season- a sash for the Rider with the most BTOs and a horse shower for the rider with the most BRs!

Side Saddle Ireland are delighted to announce the following breed sub categories for 2025:
